It seems quite ironic for me to be involved with the Prayer week in the Dwelling Place because I live so close to it but I have never actually been in it.
This event in October was really good for me personally and also for the youth at my church. On a personal level, being in the Dwelling Place I found a new enthusiasm for praying. Prayer has never been something I’ve found easy to do but during the time I spent in the Dwelling Place it made it a bit easier.
As soon as I set foot in the room for the first time there was a real sense of God. An awesome warmth (and it wasn’t just because the heaters were on!!) You could really feel God being in there.
During the different times I was in the room God laid different things on my heart and I had different experiences in there. There were times of just being in there in his presence, other times the songs playing on the CD really spoke to me- “The Fathers Song” by Matt Redman. One day I felt led to pray for the children and young people in out city who are without a father/ don’t know there father and those who don’t have a fatherly figure in there life, and the great knowledge we have about how God is our heavenly father who loves us more than anything.
Being in the Dwelling Place has really helped me to find time in my usually busy life to be with God and I know that this has been a way for me to help the young people at Church. Those of them who came to the room or took part in the prayer week had their own experiences with God – speaking to them and encouraging them.
All in all it was a life changing, thought provoking week that has changed the way I live my life. Times when I’m struggling with thing – prayer is the answer! Being in the Dwelling Place really helped me with this!
